As a matter of interest the following would resolve the ILLEGALS 15 million by : redo the 1840 Alien Registration Act where every alien from any country over 14 years of age male/female register with fingerprint and carry that as an internal passport, as we did. Failing to register constitutes grounds fo instant deportation. Their employer would be required to pay minimum wage, all other fees for regular employees. If he hires unregistered aliens he will be fined the cost of air fare home for the illegal, plus a penalty. Getty Leigh was right. Quite a few Germans were interned during WWII. As for the portraying the Japanese as evil during the war, well their military was. Beheading was not uncommon as well as starving prisoners. Besides, when you are fighting for your existence, the enemy must be viewed as evil. Like the Brits did for the Germans. I have been informed by American members that you made the regrettable comment on the O’Reilly show that “German and Italian Americans” were NOT interned during WWII in the US. Several former Internees have already written to you to advise you that German-Americans were indeed interned in large numbers during WWII, some until 1948 (three years after the war ended in Europe!). The German World Alliance co-sponsored with the US National Park Service a conference on the Internment on Ellis Island last December 8th: the anniversary of the first round-up of German-Americans as “enemy aliens”, at a time when the US was still at peace with Germany.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to work closely with the aging survivors of the U.S. Internment. Our organization has also worked with those interned elsewhere as well. Indeed, innocent ethnically German civilians were interned all over the west, and millions were deported “east” by Soviet authorities in 1941 for the crime of being German, not because they were Nazis.
What unites all the Deportees and Internees is the huge feeling of hurt that they feel when they hear that “Germans were not interned.” Can you imagine how it feels to have spent years in a camp with Japanese-American fellow internees, and to hear, time and time again that Germans were NOT interned? I have seen the impact that such comments cause, I know the pain they feel as a result.
I suggest that you make the time to meet with German and Italian American Internees to hear their story first hand, and that you make sure to include the fact of their internment whenever you talk about this WWII injustice in the future.

You obvously do not know that thousands of Germans were interned along with hundreds of Italians or that the last Germans were held on Ellis Island until July 1948. You probably do not know that on orders of President Roosevelt,the United Staes Government in cooperation with numerous South American governments kidnapped thousands of German and Japanese nationals from Latin America and held hostage as bargining chips in a secret prisoner exchange program with the Axis powers.

Roosevelt ordered this interment of American citizens of Japanese ancestry while generally not ordering a comprehensive interment of American citizens of German or Italian ancestry?
