What's good for General Bullmoose is good for the USA. - - - I don't think so.
daves echo, thank you. I don't know if your just being funny, a wise-ass or if you mean what you are saying. It is a fact, as I see it, that just about anything involving this Administration is a plan to benefit the very rich at the expense of the people. So, whatever your motives, please keep up the good work.
Posted by: Dave G. at February 14, 2005 11:47 AMOur water supply hasn't been "safe" for drinking for many years. President Bush isn't responsible for the vast amount of pollution already on this planet. That's not saying that he shouldn't be responsible for what he does or doesn't do now to help strengthen and restore our environment.
The Doors sang about this back in the late 60's - "What have they done to the earth? What have they done to our fair sister? Ravaged and plundered...ripped her...and dragged her down."
While I'm not a believer in their pantheistic worldview, I think that song was an expression of their concern for our planet at that time. I will admit that often times I have seen "Christian" people, as well as others, have a callous disregard for our environment - they have the "Dominion Mentality". While man is made in the image of God and does have dominion, I still firmly believe nature is to be honored and treated with respect and not exploited.
Just a few thoughts of mine.

Vicky,
I believe it a fact that we, mankind, have been inflicting damage on this planet for many centuries. Never has it been as bad as right now. Bush has put in his cabinet those who turn back all protections. They label things like "Clean Air Act" but in fact all such nice sounding acts are only saying; corporations can feel free to do whatever they want - and many do. Check out what is happening with our national parks.
I think there is something to the notion that the Bushites believe that Armageddon is eminent and there role is to help bring it about.
I also much agree that we tend to see and here what we want to but some get above that. Just being aware of that fact helps, I think. I fear their is so much today that none of us want to see or hear.
Why so, one might ask. What happened is that a few very wealthy, powerful, greedy, exploitive folks came up with a plan, a plan for them to take over the government of the United States. They would put in office one who would act only in accordance with their plan to benefit themselves and to immensely increase their wealth and power. It was a plan to greatly diminish the powers of the people, that we might offer no effective resistance as they grabbed all for themselves. Clearly it is a plan that anyone with a pride in or a love for this country does not want to believe, and, indeed many simply wont.
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn

More then ever Bush is saying by his actions; "to hell withe the people, they did'nt vote for me anyway".
Will it come as a great surprise when all of a sudden the rest of the world suddenly decides that it will not buy American goods which are not made by standards imposed as a result of the Kyoto treaty - just as there is so much hue and cry about some countries not adhering to the child labour laws.
What if this is strictly enforced by all signtories to the Kyoto treaty.
Will Ameroica survive such ostracization?
American Corporations would have to adhere when they produce in other countries, moving more jobs away from America and will this result in more crocodile tears by Americans?
If America pollutes it will have to pay and it will pay with diminishing trade!!
BUSH DOES NOT CARE FOR ORDINARY WORKING PEOPLE AND THEIR JOBS.
This is another simple example of lack of any sort of thinking by this malAdministration.
And so long as the sheeple stay so wonderfully focused as now on FOX News and the Jeff Gannon quality reporters, the better the long term effect of making America a third world banana republic!!
It is already half-way there.
Posted by: Jacob Matthan at February 17, 2005 11:08 AMThe problem of pollution isn't the result of George W. Bush, but he is the leader of this country and it is his responsibility to look after the well being of the country. While Bush didn't start the problem he has, thrown fuel on the fire. When Bush became president he willing took on all issues of the country good or bad. Ted Bundy didn't create murder, so maybe we shouldn't hold him responsibility for his crimes. Or maybe its like a Nazi death camp guard saying in his defense, “I don't build the camp.”
Doing nothing about a problem that directly effects the health and wellbeing of the citizens of this country or exasperatingly the problem is failure in ones duties to protect Americans. How much could the country save in health care costs if we actually had a serious anti-pollution policy.
George Bush's environmental policy is joke, but I'm not laughing.
Thank you Jacob, And that is the bottem ling, We have in place people with a criminal disregard for people or the environment. There plan is to grab all for the special interrists that ploped them down in the White House (regardless of how we the people voted). It is ludicrous beyond belief.

Posted by: Vicky at February 17, 2005 5:07 PMBlue-Dot--it is a sad commentary that soooooo many people wittingly or unwittingly endorsed the blood-vendetta in Iraq by voting for Bush--it is now a group karma all Americans are officially liable for
Posted by: The castrated American eagle at February 18, 2005 9:09 AMBlue_Dot,
