Mark,
I noticed the H.O.R.N. is advertised with a link on Air America's home page. Not a bad idea. May it bring in listeniers.
Posted by: Robt at April 12, 2008 12:45 AMI wondered how this Adm could change laws on its own to torture. The recent Yoo memo from a Justice Dept that has been completely politicized in republican partisansip is troubling.
Then come to find out Bush knew of the meetings with Ashcroft, Cheney, Rice and the others to just whimsically make a law as a king of england would have in the days of yore.
This Yoo memo makes me ask, how the Gov't, Military tries and convicts the low level soldier(s) as Lindi England for her role in torture at Abu Graib. Yet exempts any echelon of high rank from these crimes. I suspected at the time that it went up to Rumsfeld with Cheney in the shaddows somewhere on this.
Was the Lindi Englands (low level ranks) the appeasement to Americans and the world by the Adm that America did not torture? They were the scapegoats that were actually following orders?
It does appear to be the case.
If the military can court martial the Lidi England for torture. Following orders in the Nurumberg trials did not withstand convictions of crimes of following orders.
Does the court martialed low level scapegoats get cleared from their convictions since the Yoo memo appears to be part of the Bush Adm's illegal legalizing of torture?
It only would seem appropriate to try further up the authority chain if these low level rank and file convictions are left to stand.
How can Americans stand by for rank and file soldiers be court martialed for following orders and those that gave the orders exempt of the crimes they administered by their higher ranking authority?
Can these Adm actions be construed as war crimes?
What can Congress do? What should be done?
If it is allowed with no accountability then the President is the King. And America the beautiful is now the Beautiful all powerful king of the Monarchy.
Now the complacent republican controlled congress was in power and held oversight on this. They are complicit in the crime(s) for not upholding the constitution nor their obligations to the American people. But what of this Congress's oversight?
Will we see the document John Yoo's footnoted memo leads to?
Issues of this dwarfs rising gas prices and such.
On the other hand, economic slavery is being normalized and there is no freedom in "Economic Slavery".

Robt,
All of these worries of yours would simply vaporize if you would just go back to your mind numbing TV and watch Wheel of Fortune reruns.
Posted by: Skip at April 13, 2008 6:00 PMSkip,
By the time I get off work thereis no Wheel of fortune on. I could always catch the reruns when I retire otherwise yours would be good advice.
Been reading. Seems better than TV.
I have to agree with you that, I do have worries or call them deep concerns.
Robt,
If you want a mind blowing book to read, try "Web of Debt" by Ellen Brown. I'll expect to see your blogging to increase ten-fold after reading that one.
Posted by: Skip at April 15, 2008 3:16 PMOr pick up a James Patterson novel for something light and to take your mind off your worries and concerns for awhile.

Posted by: Bringhamon Young at April 16, 2008 10:05 AMSkip and JP,
Thanks for the suggestions of "Web of Debt" and a "James Patterson Novel".
Actually finishing up some Thomas Paine and looking for something more present day. Not sure about a novel.
I've yet to read " The Shock Doctrine " and I have had many refer it to read.
Skip if you've read the Shock Doctrine, would you read Web of Debt or Shock Doctrine first?
And JP you have any James Patterson novel specifically in mind?
