Scientology is run like a business yet it is tax exempt, I think I'd like you to mention that while they are raking in up to 365K on OT8 members, they don't have to pay a dime of it to the US government.

I am sorry but it appeared to me that in spite of your efforts, Ms. Rasmussen was able to frame the debate and was never seriously on the defensive. That smug, selfish, spoiled child had no understanding of the Commons that Thom Hartmann is always talking about or of what government is for. Tell her to go back and read the Preamble to the Constitution -- it's not only "provide for the common defense." She kept saying that we shouldn't tell people how to spend their money. The wealthy have no compunctions about buying influence to shift the tax burden onto working people or even more shamelessly commandeering our tax dollars to shovel into their own pockets in the form of subsidies. Her contention that the public would be safer to rely on word-of-mouth instead of government regulation is ludicruous. She needs to get out of the bubble of suburban DC that she doubtless lives in and go meet some real people who are one car wreck, lost job, or broken leg from losing everything.

Oh that silly Constitution--it's been quoted so many times--it's lost all meaning
