Congratulations to Obama for his strategy of winning Republican caucus states. It worked beautifully for securing the nomination even if he ended up crawling over the finish line. Unfortunately he cannot win with this strategy in the general election and things look like they are only going to get worse for him.

If you want to pick a winner then why not make the primaries more like the general election:

* Eliminate caucuses!
* Use electoral voting (until the GE does not)
* Eliminate (most) Superdelegates or at least give them less power.

Not that polls mean all that much this early but some look pretty bad... Number of electoral votes based on the latest poll averages:

For Hillary vs McCain

* Hillary Clinton - 310
* John McCain - 211

For Obama vs McCain:

* Barack Obama - 214
* John McCain - 290

Hopefully Hillary can convince her (more useful) half of the primary voters to switch to Obama. We'll see.

If it makes you feel better, the latest electoral vote polls show Obama beating McCain, though admittedly by a smaller margin than Clinton.

On the other hand, I believe if Clinton were ahead now, the press and Republicans would have pummeled her so badly that she would be behind Obama against McCain.

Everyone always attacks the front-runners. Obama did better against McCain than Clinton when Clinton was beating Obama in the primaries.

Don't you think right now, since McCain has been virtualy running against himself all this time(unchecked) and tongue bathed by the press.

That these early polls reflect just that?

And there may be some influence to get those poll numbers? After all. The brutal campaign fence between Obama and Hillary that hardened supporters against each other in the same party just might not be mended as yet. But will be mended now that there is a single Democratic Nominee?
